From its office on IBB Avenue in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the firm advises and represents individuals, businesses, financial institutions, public-sector bodies and other organisations across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters.
The practice has particular experience with companies, banks, government bodies, local governments, labour organisations and community institutions. That work spans courtroom advocacy, arbitration, mediation and debt recovery on one side, and contract drafting, corporate advisory, property documentation and regulatory support on the other.

How the firm was founded
Essien, Amos & Sampson was founded in 2002 by three practitioners. Two have since retired from active practice.
Rt. Hon. Bassey Essien
Founding Partner, retired from active practice
A graduate of the University of Uyo (1992), called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993. He established Bassey Essien & Co. in 1994 before co-founding the firm. His practice interests included litigation, property and estate matters, and oil and gas. He served as a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and as Speaker of the House between 1999 and 2001.
Ime Sampson Udoffa Esq.
Founding Partner, retired from active practice
A graduate of the University of Calabar, where he obtained his LL.B in 1994, and called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995. He served as a Legal Officer with Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Port Harcourt and later practised with John Kalipa & Associates and Alpha Juris Chambers before co-founding the firm in 2002. His practice experience spans litigation, arbitration, oil and gas, taxation, company and commercial practice, real estate and industrial and labour matters.
